Floyd Mayweather vs. Mike Zambidis Exhibition Postponed Amid Ongoing Legal Battle

Floyd Mayweather’s scheduled exhibition bout against Greek kickboxing legend Mike Zambidis has officially been postponed after legal action halted plans for Saturday night’s event in Athens, Greece.

The highly anticipated exhibition had been promoted as “Battle of the Legends,” but ongoing litigation involving Mayweather’s promotional agreements forced organizers to delay the main event just days before fight night.

The postponement comes after CSI Sports Events filed a lawsuit against Mayweather. Alleging the undefeated boxing icon breached an exclusive promotional agreement tied to future bouts against Mike Tyson and Manny Pacquiao.

Along with the lawsuit, CSI sought an emergency injunction in federal court to prevent Mayweather from participating in the Greece exhibition while the legal dispute remains unresolved.

According to court filings, the legal uncertainty effectively brought preparations for the event to a halt.

“Because Plaintiffs’ Motion remains pending without a ruling, the Mayweather-Zambidis event will no longer proceed in Athens, Greece as planned on Saturday evening,” attorney Melissa Glass wrote in a letter submitted to the court.

Glass added that the lawsuit, along with legal actions taken in both the United States and Greece, stopped promotional efforts, suspended distribution plans, and halted ticket sales for the event.

Card Continues Without the Main Event

Despite losing its headline attraction, promoters confirmed that the remainder of the fight card will proceed as scheduled. The event’s official social media account announced that Mayweather vs. Zambidis has been postponed rather than canceled outright.

“Some battles are worth waiting a little longer to get their story right,” the statement read. Organizers indicated they intend to announce a new date once the legal issues surrounding Mayweather are resolved.

The postponement comes as a surprise considering Mayweather had already arrived in Greece earlier this week. Videos circulating on social media showed the 50-0 boxing legend participating in promotional activities. Including a press conference in Athens, suggesting the exhibition was moving forward before the legal dispute intensified.

Future Remains Uncertain

Whether the exhibition is eventually rescheduled will likely depend on the outcome of CSI Sports Events’ request for an injunction.

The lawsuit is the latest chapter in a growing list of legal issues surrounding Mayweather. Who is also facing multiple civil disputes and recently made headlines over criminal allegations involving an unpaid $200,000 luxury watch purchase in Las Vegas.

The legal battle also casts additional uncertainty over Mayweather’s previously announced rematch with Manny Pacquiao. Which has already become the subject of competing contractual claims. For now, one of boxing’s most recognizable figures finds another event sidelined not by an opponent inside the ring, but by a courtroom outside of it.
