Alabama’s First year Head Coach Kalen DeBoer couldn’t of asked for a better start against SEC rival Georgia  on Saturday as the Crimson Tide got out to a 28-0 lead in the first half. Alabama would take a 30-7 lead going into halftime. Following the last play of the first half, both teams had to be restrained from each other as a scuffle broke out between the heated rivals.

Georgia woke up from the dead and realized that they were a elite football team and mounted a vicious comeback. Somehow with 2:31 minutes left in the game Georgia was up 34-33. Alabama starting quarterback Jalen Milroe had to come up with one more big play to help Bama get back on top. Milroe connected with freshmen wide receiver Ryan Williams for a spectacular 75 yard catch and run touchdown that would end up being the difference in Alabama’s 41-34 come from behind victory. Georgia came into the game favored at -1.5.

“He knows four plus two equals six,” Williams said. “I know four plus two equals six. The ball’s just got to go in the air.”

DeBoer is very impressed with his super freshmen

“He’s doing it over and over again, getting the ball in his hands and making people miss and getting a lot of yards after contact,” DeBoer said.

Williams de-committed from Alabama when Nick Saban retired but DeBoer was able to secure Williams commitment.

This was Bama’s 9th win over Georgia in 10 tries. Despite the loss to Georgia in the 2022 National Championship game Bama has dominated Georgia. But the gap has definitely closed since Kirby Smart has taken over the Bulldogs program in 2016.

Jalen for Heisman?

Nobody has a better signature performance than Jalen Milroe at this point of the season. Milroe passed for 374 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns. Without a doubt this performance puts him in the forefront for the Heisman Trophy.

“It’s what we do from here that matters, building on this.”
