The biggest mystery in the desert has been finally solved. Nobody knew who UNLV’s starting QB was as going to be as Head Coach Barry Odom refused to know a starter throughout camp. He even released a depth chart that didn’t reveal the starter. Well just shortly before gametime it’s been revealed that Matthew Sluka has been named the starting QB.

A highly accomplished, dual-threat All-American quarterback who joined the program this summer as a graduate transfer and looks to compete for the starting job with the Rebels … Senior campaign included setting the NCAA Division I record for rushing yards in a game by a quarterback when he finished with 330 on the ground against Lafayette, surpassing the 327 posted by Arizona’s Khalil Tate vs. Colorado in 2017.
Sluka left Holly Cross as one of the most versatile players in all of college football. In his three years he thrown for 5,896 and rushed for 3,579 and 97 total touchdowns.
