Takeaways from UFC Fight Night: Brendan Allen vs. Chris Curtis 2

@Corey Perrine-USA Today Sports via Florida Times-Union

UFC Fight Night was about redemption for some. For Brendan Allen, it was about getting revenge on Chris Curtis after losing to him in 2021. But Allen wasn’t the only person looking to make a name for himself.

Other names such as Ignacio Bahamondes and Damon Jackson are looking to climb up the divisional rankings. Did they fulfill their duties and win their respective matches? What about the main events? Did they exceed expectations?

Brendan Allen gets revenge on Chris Curtis

“All In” finally got his revenge on Chris Curtis, taking him down via split decision. Granted, it wasn’t the perfect scenario to win against a heated rival. However, Allen got the job done, vanquishing Curtis once and for all.

The match had plenty of groundwork happening, with both sides taking down their opponents. Overall, it was a satisfying main event that went down to the wire. The ending was just the cherry on top, concluding a redemption story for Brendan Allen.

As for Chris Curtis, where does he go from here? Does he pick himself up and work his way up? What “Action Man” does next will indicate what happens in the middleweight division.

Ignacio Bahamondes continues his ascent

Another fighter who came out on top was Ignacio Bahamondes. Granted, the Chilean fighter didn’t have a bone to pick with Chris Curtis himself. But he got a knockout on Christos Giagos for his troubles.

In fact, on a night when split decisions were the norm, he stood out and delivered a devastating blow to Giagos in the first round. With the win, where does Bahamondes go from here? Is challenging for the lightweight title in the cards?

Overall, an okay card

While Brendan Allen vs. Chris Curtis delivered on a storyline front and Ignacio Bahamondes impressed, there wasn’t much to the card. Aside from the suspense on who was winning, the fun happened at the end of the card.

Granted, that’s a good thing in a sense due to unpredictability. After all, this isn’t Tito Ortiz vs. Chuck Liddell we’re talking about here. Overall, it was a card that did its job, entertaining fans with the necessary suspense, fighting, and storylines needed to carry it.
