PWHL Las Vegas announced Sunday that forward Katy Knoll has signed a two-year contract with the Professional Women’s Hockey League. She signed before the team’s first 2026-27 season.
Knoll has signed through the 2027-28 season, becoming the team’s ninth player. She is also the first of two new players added in Phase 4 of the PWHL Expansion Player Distribution.
In the 2025-26 season, Knoll scored nine points, with seven goals and two assists, in 30 games for the Minnesota Frost. This was better than her first season, when she had two points in 21 games. Her seven goals were the sixth highest on the team. The team set a league record with 91 goals.
Knoll’s History
The 25-year-old from Amherst, N.Y., has played 13 playoff games over two seasons, scoring six points with three goals and three assists. In the 2025 playoffs, she scored two goals and three assists in eight games. She tied for the top rookie scorer and helped the Frost win the Walter Cup.
Knoll was selected by Minnesota with the 39th overall pick in the seventh round of the 2024 PWHL Draft. Before turning professional, Knoll played five seasons at Northeastern University. She recorded 131 points on 61 goals and 70 assists in 177 games.
On the international stage, Knoll won gold representing the United States at the 2018 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship. This was followed by a silver medal at the 2019 tournament.
At PWHL Las Vegas, Knoll will reunite with three former Minnesota teammates: defenders Mae Batherson and Kendall Cooper, signed in Phase 2, and goaltender Nicole Hensley, signed in Phase 3. She will also rejoin two former Northeastern teammates, defender Megan Carter and forward Maureen Murphy, both signed in Phase 3.
Knoll is the sixth player on PWHL Las Vegas with a Walter Cup title, joining Batherson and Hensley. She also joins 2026 Montréal Victoire champions Murphy, defender Erin Ambrose, and forward Hayley Scamurra.
At the end of Sunday’s Phase 4 signing period, each new team will have 10 players through signings and, if needed, a player selection process. Players available in Phase 4 include those not signed or protected in earlier phases, such as players with contracts ending or those already signed for 2026-27. Existing teams can lose up to four players under contract for the 2026-27 season during Phases 1-4.
