SEATTLE — Israel Adesanya isn’t buying into the hype surrounding the UFC’s historic White House card. While the promotion prepares for its June 14 showcase — UFC Freedom 250 Adesanya has made it clear he wants no part of it.

Speaking with Complex News, Adesanya explained that whatever interest he once had in the event has faded. “I was only interested because at the time, the world was different,” Adesanya said. “But now, with the way things are, it’s not really something that I’m interested in.”

He went even further, revealing he won’t even attend the event in person. “I won’t even go and watch it there. I’ll watch it from the comfort of my own house in New Zealand.”

What the Card Still Has

To be fair, the event isn’t empty.

Key fights include:

  • Ilia Topuria vs. Justin Gaethje (title unification)
  • Alex Pereira vs. Ciryl Gane (interim heavyweight title)

Plus appearances from:

  • Sean O’Malley
  • Michael Chandler

It’s a solid card. But for a once-in-a-lifetime setting?

Focus Shifts to UFC Seattle

Instead of chasing spectacle, Adesanya is locked in on his return fight. After more than a year away, he headlines UFC Fight Night 271 against Joe Pyfer at Climate Pledge Arena.

The fight carries major stakes:

  • Adesanya is coming off three straight losses
  • Pyfer is a rising contender looking for a breakout win
  • The narrative: old guard vs. new blood

Israel Adesanya isn’t chasing moments right now. He’s trying to rebuild. And while the UFC prepares for one of its most historic events ever, one of its biggest stars will be watching from afar focused on proving he still belongs at the top of the middleweight division.
