The stage is officially set for Saturday night’s super fight at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford both weighed in at 167.5 pounds, clearing the final hurdle ahead of their showdown for Canelo’s undisputed super middleweight crown.
For Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs), it marks a career-high on the scales. The Omaha native has never weighed above 154 pounds in a professional fight, most recently coming in at 153.4 for his August 2024 win over Israil Madrimov. Now, he jumps two full divisions in an attempt to make history.
Crawford’s Shot at Immortality
Should Crawford win, he would become the first male boxer ever to be undisputed in three separate weight classes. A feat that would instantly elevate him into the upper echelon of all-time greats. Already the undisputed king at 140 and 147 pounds, Crawford is chasing a legacy-defining victory against the biggest star of his era.
Canelo’s Comfort Zone
Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs), meanwhile, looked comfortable and composed at the weigh-in. The Mexican superstar has campaigned at 168 pounds for ten of his last eleven bouts. With his lone detour being the move up to light heavyweight in May 2022, when he weighed 174.4 against Dmitry Bivol. This division is his true home, and he enters the ring with the confidence of a champion who has already cleaned out the super middleweight field.
Pound-for-Pound Implications
Both men enter Saturday night ranked among the sport’s elite: Crawford at No. 3 and Canelo at No. 8 on ESPN’s pound-for-pound list. The winner won’t just walk away with all four belts at 168, but also a stronger claim to being boxing’s top active fighter.
Dice City predicts that Terence Crawford will defeat Canelo Alvarez via unanimous decision 116-112.
