No WNBA player has achieved four MVP awards, but A’ja Wilson has firmly established her status as the league’s top talent.
After placing third in the MVP voting last year, Wilson revealed that this outcome spurred her to deliver one of the most remarkable individual seasons in league history. At just 28 years old, she is expected to be in her prime.
Currently, Wilson is the favorite in the WNBA betting odds to clinch the 2025 MVP award, with odds set at +180, though she may face more competition this time.
The Aces’ performance in 2024 was disappointing. After consecutive championship victories, they finished fourth in the league standings.
A’ja Wilson
It’s tough to bet against Wilson claiming her fourth MVP award.
The 28-year-old just enjoyed the finest season of her career, achieving career highs of 26.9 points per game and 11.9 rebounds per game. Moreover, with Loyd joining the Aces, they seem poised to return to the WNBA Finals.
However, Wilson might see a decline in her scoring as Loyd’s presence could lessen the team’s dependence on her.
This potential drop in production and possible voter fatigue could affect her chances, particularly with the buzz around Clark as she heads into her second season.
Caitlin Clark
Clark’s rookie season began somewhat rocky, but she became a force for the Fever in the latter part of the year.
The 2024 No. 1 pick led the WNBA in 3-pointers per game (3.0) and assists per game (8.4) while finishing seventh in points per game (19.2).
Clark could be a key contender in the MVP race if she continues to evolve in her second season under White.
The narrative is already favorable for her, which can greatly influence an MVP campaign, and she possesses exceptional passing skills and remarkable range from beyond the arc.
This MVP race promises to be exciting if she can increase her scoring and reduce her turnovers.
Naphessa Collier
Collier finished fourth and second in MVP voting the past two seasons, leading the Lynx to the Finals in 2024.
As the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, she plays a vital role for Minnesota, especially since her teammates aren’t as star-studded as Wilson’s in Las Vegas.
Despite Wilson having better scoring and rebounding stats, Collier had a strong season with averages of 20.4 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.9 steals per game.
If the Lynx secure another top league record, Collier could rightfully win her first MVP. With odds at +500, she offers great value, given the lack of All-Star talent around her compared to Wilson and Stewart.
Best Bet
This one seems a little more obvious than the other races. Caitlin Clark is going to have the media attention and storylines surrounding her all season. The narrative is already built in for her. As long as she doesn’t get injured, she is the best bet to win this award.
She’s a very good player that keeps improving, but I’d bet on Clark winning her first MVP before Wilson wins her fourth.
Collier was intriguing option, but I just don’t believe she will stuff the stat sheet like Clark does.
Best Bet: Caitlin Clark to win the 2025 WNBA MVP at +240 odds
