Aces Sun
Chelsea Gray’s game-winning basket secured a 72-67 victory for the Aces against the Sun. In the other game, the Aces won 85-74 with A’ja Wilson scoring 26 points and 16 rebounds.
The Aces will seek to complete the season sweep today, which would leave them just two games behind Connecticut for third place with two games left for both teams after today.
In this game, A’ja Wilson has the potential to break three milestones. Wilson has already established the single-season scoring record, but she is still 29 points away from 1,000. She just needs four more blocked shots to achieve 100 for the season.
Angel Reese currently owns the single-season rebounding record with 446 rebounds but is sidelined for the remainder of the season due to injury, leaving Wilson with 435 rebounds and just 12 to pass her.
The Sun enter on a three-game winning streak, led by Marina Mabrey and Brionna Jones. Marina Mabrey scored 19 points off the bench in the Suns previous game against the Phoenix Mercury, while Brionna Jones scored 20 points on 10-of-16 shooting.
You also can’t forget about Alyssa Thomas, who is the engine of this Connecticut Sun squad and is having a great season. Thomas currently averages 10.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 7.9 assists per game.
Chelsea Gray is someone for the Aces to watch out for in this game as she has started to look more like herself. Gray has scored 10 or more points in four of the previous five games and is coming off a 21-point outburst (7-11 shooting, 6 assists).
It will be interesting to see who wins this game, since seeding is still on the line and the season comes to an end. Following this game, the Aces will travel to Seattle to face the Storm before coming home to face the Wings on the 19th to wrap off the season.
