As the season nears its end, the upcoming game between the Connecticut Sun and the Las Vegas Aces will be significant for playoff seeding.

With both teams excelling in defense, the match is anticipated to be another low-scoring affair in Sin City, with major postseason implications.

Connecticut Sun

Connecticut Sun has bounced back after struggling with their offense a week ago. They demonstrated their ability to play well-rounded games by scoring 88 points in a blowout victory over the Phoenix Mercury.

The Sun, coming off a blowout win in Phoenix, have a shorter commute for their upcoming afternoon game in Vegas. Despite being in the late stages of a long Western road trip, the Sun might be the fresher team.

The Sun will surely try to avoid getting swept by Las Vegas. Despite doing well to limit one of the Aces’ biggest strengths, their perimeter shooting, Connecticut came up short in the two previous meetings.

With the best Defensive Rating (94.0) in the league, the Sun have the defense to keep the Aces at bay. However, the offense hasn’t always looked entirely convincing.

Las Vegas Aces

Meanwhile, the Las Vegas Aces have been performing well, but they recently completed a long road trip and a draining, close game against the Indiana Fever.

The Aces are really stepping up their game as they gear up for the playoffs. After a somewhat lackluster start to the season, the two-time defending WNBA champions seem to have found a new level of energy and urgency.

They’re focused on defense and consistently shut down their opponents, showing the championship mentality we expect from them. Any doubts about their coach, Becky Hammon’s leadership have definitely been dispelled.

The Aces are living up to their championship reputation. They’re showing strong commitment on defense and playing an all-around game with the toughness that’s become their trademark.

Sun-Aces Best Bet

This one feels like it should be a defensive battle between these teams, but I worry the travel and the road trips may have zapped their energy.

The total opened up at 161.5 and has quickly been bet down to 158.5. Which is perfectly understandable given how much these teams have excelled on defense all season.

That being said I’m going to take the Over in this game. It’s going to be close, but I don’t think the energy will be there for both teams on the defensive side of the ball.

Over 158.5 points is going to be the best bet in this one.

Can the Aces sweep the Sun?
