A’s deadline path gets tricky as ESPN sees buyer fits

A’s deadline path is getting harder to define after a sweep by the Marlins left Oakland eight games under .500. ESPN still listed the Athletics as fits for several trade targets, mostly starting pitchers, as the AL West remains within reach.

The Athletics are not playing like obvious buyers right now.

They are eight games under .500, coming off a sweep by the Miami Marlins and stuck in one of their roughest stretches of the season. However, the AL West has not fully pushed them out of the conversation, and ESPN’s latest trade deadline board still treated the A’s like a team that could add.
