The fourth-seeded Denver Nuggets will face the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder in a pivotal Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. PST at Paycom Center. The series it tied at 3-3.
After leading the series 2-1, the Nuggets faced elimination but rallied to win Game 6, 119-107, as 5.5-point underdogs, surpassing the over/under of 218.5. Denver has covered the spread in four consecutive games and five of six in this series.
In Game 6, the Thunder shot 46.7% from the field compared to Denver’s 46.5%. Both teams struggled from three-point range, with the Thunder at 27.5% and the Nuggets at 37.5%.
A key difference came at the free-throw line, where Denver excelled, hitting 84.4% compared to the Thunder’s 62.5%. Denver also won the rebounding battle by 12 boards.
Chet Holmgren led the Thunder with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 32 points.
For the Nuggets, Nikola Jokic dominated with 29 points, 14 rebounds, and eight assists. However, Aaron Gordon left with a hamstring injury and is questionable for Game 7.
The Nuggets previously advanced to Game 7 against the LA Clippers but lost to the Timberwolves in the second round last year.
The Thunder last hit a Game 7 in 2020, falling to the Rockets, and have lost their previous two Game 7 appearances. The Thunder most likely win this game, but I’m not a fan of the spread or money line, so I’m targeting the total instead.
The Under 215.5 points is the play for this decisive matchup. The Under has hit in three of the last four games in this series. Both teams will feel the pressure, making a low-scoring game likely.
