The Edmonton Oilers will face the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 1 of their Western Conference semifinal series in the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Tuesday.
Puck drop is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. PST at T-Mobile Arena.
The regular-season matchup ended in a 2-2 tie. The Oilers and Golden Knights each claimed a road victory, and the Under hit in three of four games.
After rallying with three goals in the second period, Edmonton won the last two meetings, including a 3-2 victory as a road underdog on April 1.
Edmonton rebounded from a rough start against the LA Kings, losing the first two games before winning four straight for a 4-2 series victory.
Coach Kris Knoblauch’s switch to goalie Calvin Pickard played a key role, as he had a stellar performance after replacing Stuart Skinner.
Connor McDavid led the Oilers with 11 points in the series, while Leon Draisaitl added 10 points. Defenseman Evan Bouchard contributed four goals, two on the power play.
Meanwhile, the Golden Knights overcame challenges against the Minnesota Wild, splitting the first two games before losing Game 3.
They rallied in Game 4, winning 4-3 in overtime thanks to Ivan Barbashev’s game-winner, and advanced by winning the next two games.
Jack Eichel and Tomas Hertl each notched five points in the first round for Vegas, while goaltender Adin Hill rebounded after being pulled in Game 3 to secure three straight wins.
The Oilers exceeded the total in five of six games against the Kings. The Golden Knights also saw the over hit in four of their six games against the Wild.
I think we are in for a high-scoring series when the Oilers and Golden Knights face off tonight. The Oilers and Golden Knights have too much offense and too much talent for this one to go under the total.
