Raiders double down on offensive line with extra third round picks

With their extra ammunition from trades with the Miami Dolphins and Houston Texans, the Las Vegas Raiders have beefed up their offensive line.

With the 98th pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Raiders selected Texas Tech offensive guard Caleb Rogers. Following that, with the 99th pick, the team selected William & Mary offensive tackle Charles Grant.

Both offensive linemen had top-30 visits with the Raiders, so the team’s interest in both was real heading into the draft. With depth and versatility a must on a modern-day NFL offensive line, both prospects ensure the Raiders do not need to worry on either matter. They may need some time before they start, but they will certainly get their development time in this situation.

What Rogers and Grant bring to the Raiders

Both Rogers and Grant are valuable depth options due to their tackle-guard versatility, and they could factor into the starting lineup as soon as later in their rookie years.

Starting with Rogers, he joins the Raiders with four years of starting experience at right tackle for Texas Tech. While that spot for the Raiders is already covered by another third-round pick in DJ Glaze, Rogers figures to also play a part in the open battle on the interior of the offensive line. General manager John Spytek has already confirmed the Raiders will hold competitions for both guard spots and center, so Rogers could throw his hat in the ring at guard if he is good enough early on to see the field.

Grant could also factor into that conversation, but it is possible the Raiders have bigger plans for him. A four-year starter at William & Mary at left tackle, Grant was the only offensive lineman as a finalist for the Walter Payton Award, given to the best offensive player in the entire FCS. An NFL weight room will do wonders for the athletic marvel that Grant already is, and the Raiders will likely groom him as the heir apparent at left tackle in case incumbent starter Kolton Miller departs in free agency after this season.

Both project as valuable backups with starting potential later on, and the Raiders stand to benefit from a young, cost-controlled offensive line for years to come.
