WrestleMania Saturday kicked off with one of the biggest matches on the card, with Gunther defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Jey Uso.

The match started out as hard-hitting as expected, with the story focusing on Uso trying to overpower the much larger champion. While he was able to get a powerslam in, Gunther’s chops quickly did some damage on the challenger.

Uso hit a spear, but Gunther is able to kick out at two. The champion is quick to turn the action back in his favor, with a superplex, dropkick and powerbomb in rapid succession, but Uso kicks out at two as well. Gunther goes for another powerbomb, but Jey hits another spear and a massive Uso Splash from the top rope. Gunther kicks out at two again!

Gunther goes to the outside to regroup, but Uso moves the referee out of the way only for the champion to use the title to his advantage! Gunther locks Uso into a chokehold looking for the submission, but the champion is forced to release the hold, freeing himself up to deliver more punishment.

A striking battle ends with Uso getting the upper hand after a German suplex. Gunther reverse another spear into a dropkick. Uso reverses a powerbomb into one of his own on the champion! Two superkicks and a spear knock Gunther down again, setting the champ up for a trifecta of Uso Splashes!

Uso locks Gunther in a sleeper hold, and the champion taps! We have a new World Heavyweight Champion! Out comes twin brother Jimmy Uso to celebrate, handing Jey his first world championship.

What a start to WrestleMania and, if this is any indication, this is sure to be a weekend for the books.
