The UNLV Lady Rebels (4-2) are looking to bounce back after a loss against the No. 9 Oklahoma Sooners.
The Lady Rebels will be hosting the UCF Knights (4-0) in the UNLV Thanksgiving Classic, starting on Wednesday, Nov. 27. The Thanksgiving Classic will also feature East Carolina and Montana State
The UCF Knights are headed to Las Vegas looking for another win after sliding by the Florida A & M Rattlers 80-55. In the win, the Knights relied on their bench mostly. Leading the Knights from the bench was senior guard Kaitlin Peterson, who averages 18.0 points per game. The Knights currently lead the Big 12 in offensive rebounds with 16.5 per game. Senior center, Hannah Gusters leads the team in rebounds, averaging 9.0 rebounds per game. This upcoming game against the Lady Rebels will be UCF’s first road game of the season.
The Lady Rebels look to rebound from the loss. Their best way to win is to rely on their bench to continue to make shots in the open floor and continue to be consistent from the free-throw line. Speaking of relying on the bench, Junior guard Kiara Jackson needs to have another complete game. Against Oklahoma, she earned her second double-double of her career. Junior forward Alyssa Brown will need to lead the floor attack by continuing to dish out the assists. In the Oklahoma game, she racked up 3 assists.
In a recent interview, Lady Rebels head coach Lindy La Rocque says that she knows that the “schedule doesn’t get any easier, so we have to learn and respond and get back out there and move forward.”
It will be interesting to see if the Lady Rebels can dust themselves off & bounce back against the Knights.
This will be the last home game for the Lady Rebels as they face East Carolina in the classic on Friday at 2:30 p.m. Then the Lady Rebels take a road trip to take on No. 12 Baylor Bears.
The Lady Rebels clash with the Knights on Wednesday at noon at the Thomas & Mack Center.
