- Where: Capital One Arena (Washington DC)
The Golden Knights are already 3-0 on the season. They take their perfect record on the road to face the Washington Capitals. The Golden Knights and Capitals have a history off the ice.
Vegas Golden Knights
The Knights defeated the Avalanche, Blues, and Ducks on their way to a 3-0 start. This will be their first road game of the season, and they will face their former goaltender, Logan Thompson.
The Golden Knights traded Thompson to the Capitals for two third-round draft picks during the NHL Entry Draft.
This move came after Thompson expressed a desire to become the NHL’s No. 1 goalie, but that wasn’t feasible in Vegas due to Adin Hill’s presence.
Thompson understood the situation, especially considering Hill’s role in leading the Golden Knights to a Stanley Cup championship in 2022.
He started with the Capitals organization by signing with Hershey and playing for the ECHL South Carolina Stingrays in 2019-20.
Thompson is now gearing up to debut with the Capitals against his former team. During the preseason, Thompson showcased his ability to compete and make crucial saves by winning both of his starts.

The Knights top line, consisting of Jack Eichel, Ivan Barbashev, and Mark Stone, has performed well to start the season. Eichel has a goal and six assists, while Stone has two goals and four assists. Barbashev has contributed three goals and three assists.
On the defensive end, Shea Theodore has a goal and four assists, and Alex Pietrangelo has three assists.
Adin Hill is expected to be in goal for the Golden Knights, with a 2-0-0 record, a 3.50 goals-against average, and a .870 save percentage this year.
Washington Capitals
The Capitals lost their season opener, 5-3, against the Devils on the road. Washington took an early lead, but New Jersey tied it up and never looked back.
With the total set at six goals, the combined eight easily surpassed that mark. As underdogs on the puck line, the Capitals failed to cover, starting the season at 0-1-0.
Washington got on the board first, with John Carlson scoring at 9:12 in the first period. However, the Devils responded with two goals in the first and added two more before the Capitals found the net again.
Tom Wilson’s goal in the third period brought Washington within one, but an empty-netter from the Devils sealed the game. Washington took 32 shots on goal but only scored three times in a 5-3 loss to the Devils.

John Carlson scored with a power-play goal, Dylan Strome added his first goal of the season, and Tom Wilson found the net 1:35 into the third period.
Carlson and Strome each contributed an assist, while Alex Ovechkin also notched his first assist of the season.
Despite scoring in every period, the Capitals struggled defensively, allowing the Devils to score three consecutive goals late in the game after tying it at 2-2.
The game was sealed by an empty-netter with just 8 seconds left. Goalie Charlie Lindgren made 28 saves with an 87.5% save percentage.
Knights-Capitals Best Bet
This matchup should be a good test for the Knights team on the road. They haven’t missed a beat this season and will be motivated facing their former teammate.
The Capitals were not able to slow down the New Jersey Devils in their first game but were competitive throughout. They have a strong historical record at home against the Golden Knights and will be aiming to avoid an 0-2 start to the season.
Goaltending is expected to play a pivotal role in this matchup, with Logan Thompson likely to deliver a standout performance.
While the Golden Knights should win this one, I’m looking at the total. We are in for a defensive battle tonight, and 6 goals seems a bit high. I’m going to bet on the Under in this one.
Under 6 goals at -115 odds is the best bet in this one.
Can the Golden Knights stay unbeaten against the visiting Ducks?
