Anthony Joshua isn’t a stranger to when it comes to huge crowds in England. He will sell out the iconic Wembley Stadium again in his upcoming championship fight against IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois on September 21st in London, England.

Turki Alalshikh confirmed that a capacity extension had been applied for. Wembley Stadium has an official capacity of 90,000, but that number has been increased for a number of past events. A 2022 clash between Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte reportedly drew 94,000 and is the current British boxing attendance record.

Joshua and Dubois will fight for the IBF heavyweight title when they lace the gloves up. Dubois last fought on June 1st against Filip Hrgović in a fight that had an interim version of the IBF strap. Later on, he was elevated to full titlist when Oleksandr Usyk vacated the IBF title to pursue a Fury rematch. For Dubois, the clash against Joshua will be his first time ever defending a world title. Dubois loss a controversial decision against Usyk. He landed a body shot that floored the champion that was called low but replays showed what looked to be a clean body shot.

Chasing legacy

Anthony Joshua is seeking to become a world champion for a third time. This could very well be his last shot ever at a title so there’s a lot of urgency for him to pull off this win. Either way this bout should be very exciting and will paint a clearer picture on who’s amongst the elite in the heavyweight division.
