Ryan Garcia (25-1, 20 KOs) came in as the under dog and overwhelmed Devin Haney (31-1, 15 KOs) winning by majority decision in a non title bout in Brooklyn at the Barclays Center. Since Garcia didn’t make weight he was not eligible to win the title, also since Haney lost, the WBC light welterweight belt will now be vacated.

Garcia started off aggressive in the first round and hurt Haney. Ryan Garcia caught Haney in the 7th with a left hook and knocked him down. That was the first time that Haney has been knocked down in his career. Haney was knocked down in the 10th and 11th rounds, somehow managing to survive.
One judge scored the bout 112-112 but was overruled by the two other judges at 114-110 and 115-109 for Garcia, who out landed Haney 106-87 in total punches and 95-45 in power punches, according to Compubox.
