In early March 2027, the three-time national champion Oregon State Beavers baseball program is scheduled to compete in Las Vegas.
An official press release published this morning states Oregon State University will participate in the 2027 Live Like Lou Las Vegas College Baseball Classic. This is a four-team tournament from March 5-7. Oregon State will also play a separate game on Monday, March 8, against the BYU Cougars.
During the Live Like Lou tournament, Oregon State will play against Arizona State, which used to be in the Pac-12, Iowa from the Big Ten, and Louisiana State University (LSU) from the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
Before Arizona State’s departure from the Pac-12 Conference, the Beavers & Sun Devils battled over a hundred times. All-time, Arizona State holds a 56-47 advantage in the series. However, Oregon State has won each of their last four matchups. The schools most recently played in 2024, with the Beavers besting their opponent in the Pac-12 Conference tournament.
Oregon State History
Oregon State’s history with Iowa is shorter. However, the two teams played each other in the last two seasons. In 2025, they had a game in Des Moines that went into extra innings and ended in a tie because Oregon State had travel issues. In 2026, at the Frisco College Baseball Classic in Texas, Oregon State beat Iowa by one run.
Louisiana State University (LSU) is linked to an important moment in Oregon State baseball history. The two teams met in the 2017 College World Series, where LSU beat Oregon State two days in a row to move on to the final series. Even though Oregon State set a record with 49 regular season wins and 27 conference wins, they did not win the national championship.
Since 2012, Oregon State and LSU have played nine times, with LSU leading the series 6-3.
Brigham Young University (BYU) last played Oregon State during a three-game series at Goss Stadium in 2021. The all-time series includes twenty-five games. Oregon State has won eleven of the past twelve meetings.
All four games will take place at Las Vegas Ballpark in Summerlin, which is eleven miles from the Las Vegas Strip. This ballpark is the home field for the Las Vegas Aviators, a Triple-A team connected to the Oakland Athletics.
