Las Vegas Aces' A’ja Wilson (22) signs autographs for fans Saturday, July 19, 2025, after the WNBA All-Star Game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

A’ja Wilson always makes time to support women in sports. Her latest show of support came Jan. 29, when she spent time with the Miami Hurricanes and Duke women’s basketball teams during their matchup. Duke earned a 74-58 road win over Miami.

Wilson does not just offer advice. She also tries to leave a lasting mark by regularly giving away her signature shoe. Recently, she gifted the women’s basketball team at Benedict College a set of Nike A’Ones to support the next generation of athletes. She was also honoring her roots. Her father, Roscoe Wilson Jr., is a Benedict College alumnus who started for the Tigers in the 1970s and was one of the program’s standout big men.

Wilson continues to show what elite players can do with their influence. Young athletes around the world look up to her success, and many dream of achieving even a fraction of what she has built.

Her dominance started early. Wilson was named a 2014 McDonald’s All-American and was one of three players from the 2014 class selected to the USA Basketball U19 World Cup team. She carried that momentum to college, where she helped lead South Carolina to the NCAA title in the 2016-17 season. And that is only a snapshot of what has become an outstanding career.

Female athletes around the world idolize Wilson and hope to be the next to share one of her memorable interactions. Many are also chasing a few words of advice from one of the sport’s greats, which only adds to the curiosity about where she will show up next.
