- What: NHL Western Conference Playoffs First Round Game 4
- When: April 26, 2025
- Who: Dallas Stars vs. Colorado Avalanche
- Time: 6:30 p.m. PST
- Where: Ball Arena (Denver, CO)
The Dallas Stars will play the Colorado Avalanche in Game 4 of their Western Conference first-round series on Saturday during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The game will take place at Ball Arena in Denver, with the puck dropping at 6:30 p.m. PST. Dallas leads the series 2-1.
Despite being considered underdogs in all three preceding games, the Stars suffered a tough 5-1 defeat in the series opener on April 10, entering as +145 home underdogs.
However, they bounced back with consecutive overtime victories in Games 2 and 3, winning 4-3 at home on Monday and 2-1 in Denver on Wednesday.
The Avalanche, who were eliminated by the Stars in the second round of last year’s playoffs, managed to win 2 out of 3 games against them during the regular season.
However, following Wednesday’s loss, Colorado has now dropped four consecutive home playoff games to Dallas.
In net, Jake Oettinger (36-18-4, 2.59 GAA, .909 SV%, 2 SO in the regular season) is set to start for the Stars.
He has played all three games, making 27 saves on 28 shots in Wednesday’s match, bringing his series save percentage to .910 (81 saves on 89 shots) and a playoff career mark of .915 over 50 games.
Mackenzie Blackwood (28-21-6, 2.55 GAA, .912 SV%, 4 SO in the regular season) has been in goal for the Avalanche, facing Oettinger in every game thus far. His save percentage is an impressive .923 for the series, with 84 saves on 91 shots.
Dallas (+155) concluded the regular season with three straight road losses.
Before Wednesday’s game, they had allowed 42 goals over their previous nine matches, tallying a record of 1-8 with two overtime losses, along with Monday’s overtime victory.
On the other hand, Colorado, boasting a home record of 26-12-3 during the regular season, is 6-1-0 in its last seven games played with two days’ rest.
I’ll take the Avalanche to even the series at 2-2 with the Stars in this one.
