  • When: March 8, 2025
  • Who:  LA Lakers vs. Boston Celtics
  • Time:  5:30 p.m. PST

It’s Saturday, March 8, and the Los Angeles Lakers (40-21) are preparing to face off against the Boston Celtics (45-18) at TD Garden in Boston.

The Lakers’ road record is 15-14, with a point differential of 2, while the Celtics’ record is 6-4 in their last ten home games.

Earlier this season, the Lakers won their only home matchup, beating the Celtics 117-96 on January 23.

Boston comes into this game with three consecutive wins, while Los Angeles just wrapped up an impressive streak of eight straight victories.

Los Angeles

Aside from the Cavaliers on a 13-game winning streak, the Los Angeles Lakers are the hottest team in the league, boasting an 18-3 record over their last 21 games, including an eight-game winning streak.

Their recent wins include victories over the Clippers (108-102), Pelicans (136-115), and Knicks (113-109), moving them to second in the Western Conference with a 40-21 record, trailing only the Thunder (52-11).

In their recent overtime win against the Knicks, the Lakers were 2.5-point home favorites. They outperformed New York in field goal percentage (42.7% to 39.4%), three-point shooting (33.3% to 23.3%), and rebounding (49 to 46), although they had one more turnover (17 to 16).

Luka Doncic led the way with a double-double, scoring 32 points and dishing out 12 assists.

Boston

The Boston Celtics have had a tumultuous season but remain a top-tier team with a record of 45-18, placing them second in the Eastern Conference behind the Cleveland Cavaliers (53-10).

Despite being 8 games back, the betting market favors the Celtics at +230 to win the championship over the Cavs at +650.

After a recent home loss to the Cavaliers (123-116), the Celtics bounced back with three straight wins, including victories over the Nuggets (110-103), Trail Blazers (128-118), and 76ers (123-105).

In their latest game against Philadelphia, they were 13.5-point favorites and won by 18 points, dominating key stats like field goal percentage (50.5% to 42.1%) and turnovers (11 to 16). Jayson Tatum led the way with an impressive 35 points on 60.9% shooting.

Lakers-Celtics Best Bet

The Celtics have successfully covered the spread in 9 out of their last 10 victories. I think we’re all victims of the moment when it comes to how good the Lakers have looked.

While they’ve been impressive on this current win streak, going into Boston is different. The Celtics will want to avenge their early season loss to the Lakers.

I’ll take the Celtics to cover the spread in this one.

Best Bet: Celtics -7.5 points at -105 odds
