On Tuesday night, the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels picked up a 74-67 win on Senior night against San Diego State.

The win gave the Runnin’ Rebels a season sweep of the Aztecs. It is the first time that UNLV has won both regular-season meetings against San Diego State since 2012-13 season.

Julian Rishwain came up big for the Runnin’ Rebels, scoring a career-high 26 points.

Rishwain went 9-for-13 from the floor, including a career-high, six three-pointers.

Jaden Henley scored 17 points, Jalen Hill added 11, and Jailen Bedford had 10. Bedford even had a team-high eight rebounds. Jalen Hill grabbed six rebounds.

San Diego State was led by Nick Boyd with 19 points and Miles Byrd recorded a double-double, scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Byrd also racked up six assists, four steals, and three blocks.

It was a close game between the two teams. There were 11 lead changes and 11 ties. By halftime, it was a two-point contest, with San Diego State holding the 34-32 lead.

Neither team led by more than four points until Jalen Hill made a jump shot with 7:19 left to go in the game.

It continued to be a two-point game with under four minutes left. The Runnin’ Rebels pulled away by as many as nine to close out the game.

UNLV coach Kevin Krueger said, “Obviously, couldn’t be more happy and proud for the guys. Especially on Senior Night, there are always thoughts about the emotions and the day for seniors and if it will affect them. But for this group it didn’t do anything but energize them. It’s something that they will remember forever, especially against a good team like San Diego State, that has controlled the conference for 20 years.”

Next up, the Runnin’ Rebels hit the road to New Mexico for its season finale on Friday, March 8 at 8 p.m. MT/7 p.m. PT.
