Lady Rebels fall to Wyoming in regular season finale

The UNLV Lady Rebels fell to the Wyoming Cowgirls on the road in their regular season finale, 71-66.

The Lady Rebels were led by Amarachi Kimpson, scoring 24 points and shooting 9-for-16 from the field, 2-for-4 from the three-point line, and 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.

Aaliyah Alexander scored 12 points and went 5-for-1 from the floor, 1-for-2 from the three-point line, and 1-for-1 from the free-throw line.

Meadow Roland came from the bench to add 11 points.

Alyssa Brown led the Lady Rebels in rebounds with 10.

Wyoming was led by Malene Pedersen, scoring 27 points. Emily Mellema added 17 points.

Allyson Fertig picked up a double-double, scoring 16 points and 19 rebounds.

The two squads exchanged the lead 10 times through forty minutes, and they were tied three times.

The Cowgirls kept control of the lead for the first 10 minutes of the game, but the Lady Rebels came thundering back in the second quarter to take a two-point lead going into halftime.

The Lady Rebels held a slim lead, 51-49 going into the fourth quarter.

Wyoming came back scoring five points to start the quarter, taking the lead 55-51.

UNLV managed to close the gap to one, 55-54, sinking three straight free-throws.

A 9-5 run by Wyoming closed out the game and Wyoming held on to the win.

The Lady Rebels will be at home at the Thomas & Mack Center. The tournament will begin on Sunday, March 9. The Lady Rebels are the No. 1 seed in the conference, they will have a first-round bye and play on Monday, March 10 at 12pm against the winner of No. 8 Boise State vs. No. 9 UNR.
