The Las Vegas Raiders brought in head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek to establish some newfound credibility.
While the Raiders have fallen on hard times in recent memory, Carroll and Spytek have both played vital roles in building championship teams.
The two are already working hard in bringing the Raiders back to prominence, filling out the coaching staff and preparing to build the roster over the next couple of months.
With Carroll’s experience at both USC and the Seattle Seahawks, he has a deep list of connections that he can tap into to help him get the Raiders going.
On Friday, Carroll brought one of those connections to Las Vegas.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, the Raiders are hiring Seahawks vice president of coaching operations Matt Capurro.
Seahawks VP of coaching operations Matt Capurro is leaving the team after 15 years to reunite with Pete Carroll and rejoin the Raiders. Was with Carroll at USC in 2009 and in Seattle from ’10-23, and worked for Al Davis in Oakland from ’04-08.

Capurro having almost fifteen years of experience working with Carroll is a huge boost, but also working with legendary owner Al Davis means he comes in with some level of familiarity with how current owner and Al’s son Mark Davis runs his organization.
Capurro has seen what it takes to help guide a team to the next level, and he has played a major role in helping Carroll accomplish what he has in the NFL. With his own experience and connections, he has now been tasked by the Raiders to help them make it back to the promised land.
He will not be a name that is given much credit outside of the occasional mention, but Capurro has all the makings of a slam-dunk hire.
