Las Vegas fans are probably tired of hearing about their woes this season but there could be some sort of bright spot in the upcoming season.
Considering the playoff picture for the Raiders is over this season, let’s look forward to the 2025 season.
With the possibility of a new coach, if the Raiders dismiss Antonio Pierce, the Raiders are in a rebuilding phase.
So what about the prospect of Aaron Rodgers joining the Raiders at the quarterback position? Most NFL experts and fans alike think Rodgers should be looking to retirement instead of another team but could Rodgers to the Raiders work?
It is being reported by cbssports.com that Woody Johnson, New York Jets owner is already looking to cut ties with Rodgers after this season.
The Raiders could use the veteran former MVP at the quarterback position to lead the team and build around him. They could also still draft a younger quarterback like a Shedur Sanders to learn under Rodgers.
According to Fansided, the Raiders might be bold enough to give up a few draft picks in 2025 to make that trade happen. On the flip side, Davante Adams looks as if he is about to enter into free agency again at the end of this season, joining Rodgers. The Raiders could make the trade happen by putting together a package including Adams, to get Rodgers. If the trade happens, the New York Jets could have $49 million in dead cap space and possible draft picks.
However, if both become free agents, there would be no need for a trade.
Rodgers has thrown for 19 touchdowns and 2,627 yards this season. The Raiders could be his last stop before retirement. He would have to chance to improve his stats by having a target like Raiders’ rookie tight end Brock Bowers who has 84 receptions, 4 touchdowns, and 884 yards for the year.
But the question would be for the Raiders, is he worth it? Rodgers’ attitude has been called out by not only members of the media but by his own teams. His diva-like attitude at the end of his career is a turn-off for most teams and he is 41.
Although Rodgers is older, his energy to play the game is still high. That could benefit the Raiders. He could provide some leadership on a seemingly young roster.
It will be interesting to see if the Raiders have any interest in Rodgers and if Rodgers would be willing to join a team in a rebuilding process.
