Gardner Minshew Is On A Mission

© Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

Gardner Minshew has an opportunity to establish himself as the long term solution as the Raiders starting quarterback. During the draft, the Raiders did not draft a quarterback in the draft. It was a great decision for the Raiders not to give up their future to gamble on a unproven player outside of Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels.

Everywhere that Minshew has played at he’s been very productive. He’s not going to lose a lot of games with bad decision making. From Minshew’s time at Jacksonville he had a passer rating of 93.1 with 5,530 yards, 37 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 23 games for the Jaguars in his career.  From Minshew’s time in Indianapolis he completed 62.2 percent of his passes for 3,305 yards with 15 touchdowns over 17 games (13 starts) for the Colts in 2023. Sixth round draft picks don’t normally have that type of production.

The Raiders have a prove it culture building. At this time they will invest in anyone who is going out there and showing that they can help with the team. Furthermore there’s a glaring need for consistent quarterback play. Minshew is certainly capable of evolving into a starting quarterback with with the right opportunity. However Minshew is ready for the challenge to prove to the team that he can be their guy.

“Fortunately, I think we’ve also got some dudes on the roster. I think we’ve got to bring it together in OTAs, camp, which I know we will, and, man, I’ll take our chances.” “It’s been a long time coming, but I feel like Raiders have been in my path,” Minshew said.
