Conor McGregor Becomes Part-Owner of BKFC

@Jim Rassol-USA Today Sports

Conor McGregor is taking on many ventures right now. Whether it’s acting or launching his own line of whiskey, there’s nothing that the Irish MMA fighter won’t take on. That includes other fighting promotions, with McGregor becoming the part-owner of Bare Knuckle FC.

The Philadelphia-based promotion was founded in 2018. It is the first promotion to host a state-sanctioned bare-knuckle boxing event in the United States since 1889. For McGregor, he’s growing his presence in the sport, getting into the business side of things.

What’s Conor McGregor’s Role?

For one, Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship is expanding across the globe. Aside from the first bare-knuckle boxing event in centuries, BKFC is stepping into countries like Great Britain and Mexico. Such expansion is good for the business, making its presence felt by fighting fans.

For McGregor, he can continue to do what he loves. “Notorious” is passionate about fighting, specifically MMA. His passion is perfect for the business side of BKFC, for he’s initially talked about wanting to have one more fight before he retires. But buying into the sport is also good, right?

McGregor is also serving as an ambassador for the sport, promoting the sport’s numerous assets. That includes promoting the best fighters and also the premier events. However, the Irish MMA star isn’t alone in diving into this endeavor.

Conor McGregor Isn’t the Only Megastar to Dabble In Sports Business

It’s no secret Conor McGregor’s had a successful UFC career. He’s won numerous championships, competed in record-breaking rivalries, and reinvented the featherweight and lightweight divisions. However, he’s not the first sports megastar to transition into the world of business.

In fact, numerous names have also made the move. Take your pick from the various superstars. What about Michael Jordan owning the Charlotte Hornets? Or Tom Brady being part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders? These superstars have gotten into the sports business and set the standard.

It’s not even sports business that megastar athletes have gotten into. For example, LeBron James is part-owner of Blaze Pizza. With numerous athletes jumping into the fold, McGregor is getting his feet wet. It’s also a good opportunity for “Notorious” to expand his footprint, making his presence known.
