A game everyone thought was an easy victory for the Thunder got ripped away by the young and dangerous Spurs.
The game started with the Thunder shocking the Spurs with a 16-point lead, and a head of steam. The Thunder scored everywhere, hitting countless mid-range shots and threes to try and push to victory. Meanwhile, the Spurs were the opposite, struggling to score. That changed quickly.
Something clicked for the Spurs. They became a different team, fighting all the way to a 3-point deficit going into halftime. There was definitely one player who was manning the ship for the Spurs it was no other then 7’4 Victor Wembanyama. He ended the game with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks in just 20 minutes.
Wembanyama wasn’t the only one with a great stat line for the Spurs. Devin Vassell’s notched 23/5/4, Stephon Castle’s had 22/6/2 and De’Aaron Fox’s added 22/2/4. The Thunder were doing their best to keep the lead with Shai’s Gilgeous-Alexander totaling 29/4/5 and Chet Holmgren’s 17 and 7.
The teams fought to the wire with several lead changes late in the second half. It ended up coming down to free throws with the Spurs leading by 5 with less then 15 seconds left. The Spurs used there high basketball IQs to foul the Thunder early to not give them the slightest chance to shoot.
The final score was Spurs 111 – 109. With the Spur advancing to the NBA Cup finals vs the Knicks on December 14th.
Fans in attendance are still shocked at this amazing upset the Spurs had.
