Jean Silva (16-2 MMA, 5-0 UFC) has built a reputation not just for his performances inside the Octagon, but for his unfiltered words outside of it. In a recent interview with Full Send MMA, Silva once again made headlines, reigniting tensions with former opponent Bryce Mitchell before taking aim at another high-profile name.
“F*ck Bryce Mitchell,” Silva said bluntly. “We can explain that sometimes the energy just don’t match. That’s different people, different natures, different character, and that’s just how it is. It’s always been my whole life. If I don’t like you, I’ll just straight up say it to your face. I just don’t like you.”
Enter Paulo Costa
Silva didn’t stop with Mitchell. The featherweight contender went further, adding fellow Brazilian and former middleweight title challenger Paulo Costa to his personal hit list.
“Like ‘Borrachinha’ (Costa), I just don’t like him very much,” Silva continued. “But he’s huge, in a different weight class, so I’m never going to fight him. But in the streets, all bets are off. F*ck Paulo Costa.”
Costa’s Response
Never one to let trash talk go unanswered, Costa fired back on social media, mocking Silva’s size.
“You little dwarf pendejo naughty little child, you’re so small for me,” Costa wrote.
Focus on Diego Lopes
For Silva, though, the immediate task at hand is far more important than his growing list of rivals. He headlines Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 259 main event against fellow rising star Diego Lopes (26-7 MMA, 5-2 UFC). The bout serves as the featured attraction of the UFC’s annual Noche UFC celebration at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, airing on ESPN+.
With his rivalry list expanding and his star power growing, Jean Silva has positioned himself as one of the UFC’s most outspoken and must-watch personalities.
