The Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers meet in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final on Monday, with the series tied 1-1. Puck drop is at 5 p.m. PST from Amerant Bank Arena.
The Panthers, who swept the Oilers 2-0 in the regular-season series, lost Game 1 4-3 in overtime but triumphed 5-4 in double overtime in Game 2, with Brad Marchand scoring the game-winner.
The Oilers’ five-game winning streak came to an end on Friday, as they failed to win as home favorites despite Evan Bouchard’s goal and two assists.
In goal, Stuart Skinner (7-5, 2.61 GAA) will face Sergei Bobrovsky (13-6, 2.21 GAA). Skinner has bounced back after a rough start, though he has allowed at least three goals in his last three appearances.
Bobrovsky has held opponents to two goals or fewer in 8 of his previous 11 games but has also let in three or more in his last three outings.
The matchup has consistently produced high-scoring games, with the recent 5-4 result marking the fourth time the over has hit in the last five games for both teams.
While both teams have been able to score at will in the first two games of this series, the return to Florida should help the Panthers defense slow down the Oilers.
The Panthers physical defense should start hitting the Oilers and forcing them to play differently. I think the defense steps up in this one and we get limited scoring.
