The Vegas Golden Knights will play the Edmonton Oilers in Game 3 of their best-of-seven series during the Western Conference semifinals of the Stanley Cup Playoffs this Saturday.

The game at Rogers Place will start at 6 p.m. PST.

The Oilers currently lead the series 2-0. After finishing their opening series with three consecutive victories, Vegas has stumbled with two straight losses, including a 5-4 overtime defeat in Game 2 against Edmonton, where they were favored at -136.

The Golden Knights scored in every period, netting two goals in the final frame, while left winger Victor Olofsson contributed two goals in the effort.

On the other hand, the Oilers bounced back after losing their first two playoff games in the earlier round, going on to win six straight, highlighted by their recent overtime triumph against Vegas as a +123 road underdog.

Five different players scored for Edmonton, including center Leon Draisaitl, who netted the game-winner in overtime.

Goaltender Adin Hill has been the sole starter for the Golden Knights in the postseason, although his performance has been slightly below his regular-season average.

He has allowed three or more goals in five of the eight playoff games, defeats in back-to-back matches, and four losses in the last seven.

Hill has faced at least 31 shots in three of the last five games, indicating some struggles with the Knights’ defensive play.

Overall, the numbers in this series have closely mirrored each other. When looking at expected goals, this series has been the most competitive of the second round during 5-on-5 play, with the Oilers holding a marginal +0.44 goal advantage.

However, my concern with the Oilers continues to be their goaltending. Their past struggles in net have often cost them, making it hard to overlook potential issues against a well-rounded team like the Golden Knights.

The Oilers’ being forced to switch from Calvin Pickard in net to Stuart Skinner feels like a blessing for Vegas. The injury to Pickard happening at the worst time for the Oilers.

I am compelled to support the Golden Knights at plus-money, believing they will secure their first win of the series tonight.
