The Washington Capitals will clash with the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday for Game 3 of their best-of-seven Eastern Conference semifinals in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, starting at 3 p.m. PST at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, N.C.
The series is currently tied 1-1 after the Capitals secured a 3-1 win in Game 2. Connor McMichael, John Carlson, and Tom Wilson scored for Washington.
Carolina managed only one goal, from Shayne Gostisbehere, as their offense struggled against the Capitals’ defense.
As they return home, the Hurricanes aim to bounce back after an undefeated first-round series against the New Jersey Devils.
In goal, Logan Thompson (5-2, 2.01 GAA, .931 SV% in the postseason) faces Frederik Andersen (4-2, 1.55 GAA, .930 SV%). Thompson was impressive in Game 2, blocking 27 of 28 shots, while Andersen has a solid playoff record against the Capitals.
The Under has been a prevailing trend in their six meetings this season, and it seems likely to continue in Game 3, given both goalies’ strong performances and Carolina’s effective penalty kill.
I’m going to stick with the trend of low-scoring games in this series. I’ll take the Under as the best bet in this one.
