The Winnipeg Jets can advance by defeating the St. Louis Blues in Game 6 of their first-round Stanley Cup Playoff series this Friday at 5 p.m. PST.

The Jets lead the series 3-2 after winning all three home games.

In Game 5, the Jets came out strong after disappointing performances in Games 3 and 4. Kyle Connor scored early and contributed a goal and two assists.

However, they suffered a setback when center Mark Scheifele was injured in the first period and will miss Game 6.

Some controversial officiating decisions were made, including a penalty assessed against Blues center Oskar Sundqvist for embellishment after he was hurt.

Rookie Jimmy Snuggerud scored, but Hellebuyck let in a soft goal. The Jets’ defense was solid, limiting the Blues’ shots, while Hellebuyck made key saves.

Jordan Binnington, the Blues’ goalie, stopped 21 of 25 shots in Game 5 and was strong in previous home games.

The Jets, favored to win the series, are under pressure without Scheifele, while the Blues, who defied expectations to reach the playoffs, aim to force a Game 7 with the support of their home crowd.
