  • What: NBA Regular Season Game
  • When: April 9, 2025
  • Who:   Houston Rockets vs. Los Angeles Clippers
  • Time:  7:30 p.m. PST
  • Where: Intuit Dome (Inglewood, CA)

The Houston Rockets (52-27) will play the LA Clippers (47-32) on Wednesday night. The game will tip off at 7:30 p.m. PST at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood.

In the season series, the Rockets currently lead 3-0. They are on a three-game winning streak and recently pulled off a surprising 106-96 win as 5.5-point underdogs against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday.

Center Alperen Sengun contributed significantly, scoring 19 points and grabbing 14 rebounds, while forward Dillon Brooks added 24 points.

As it stands, Houston is positioned second in the Western Conference, trailing the first-place Oklahoma City Thunder by 13 games and holding a four-game lead over the third-place Los Angeles Lakers.

The Clippers, fresh off a 122-117 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday, didn’t cover the spread as 12.5-point home favorites, but the Over (229) was successful. Center Ivica Zubac had a standout performance with 24 points and a game-high 20 rebounds.

LA has a perfect 5-0 record in its last five games and is 3-2 against the spread (ATS).

It is currently tied for the fourth seed in the West alongside the Denver Nuggets, Golden State Warriors, and Memphis Grizzlies. They are just one game behind the Lakers and one game ahead of the eighth-seeded Minnesota Timberwolves.

This season, the Rockets are 3-0 ATS against the Clippers and have a 2-1 record on the Over/Under. In their most recent meeting on December 8, Houston secured a 117-106 victory as a three-point road favorite, with the total going over (214.5).

In that game, Rockets guard Jalen Green led the scoring with 31 points, while former Clippers guard Bones Hyland, now with Minnesota, contributed 22 points from the bench.

With the NBA Playoffs just around the corner, this matchup could foreshadow a potential matchup. It would also showcase both teams’ defensive prowess.

The Clippers and Rockets rank fourth and fifth in scoring defense and second and third in defensive efficiency over the last 15 games.

In previous matches against defensively strong teams, neither the Clippers nor the Magic scored 100 points last Monday, and their matchup against the Thunder ended with just 204 total points.

While Houston’s latest victory over the Thunder saw a high score, their previous game against the Warriors totaled a mere 202 points.

Tonight’s total is set at 219.5. The Clippers will be playing the second game of a back-to-back, although they won’t travel. The Under has cashed in six of the last ten meetings between these two teams, a trend I anticipate will continue this evening.

Best Bet: Under 219.5 points at -110 odds
