The Las Vegas Aces and Los Angeles Sparks may be rivals on the court, but they are partnering for a cause much bigger than basketball.

On Friday, the Aces announced that they will be hosting a donation drive on Sunday to provide relief for those affected by the wildfires in California.

The drive will be held Sunday, Jan. 12 from noon to 5 p.m., where donated items can be dropped off at team headquarters on Raiders Way in Henderson.

The Aces have requested various donation items such as bottled water and non-perishable food items to toiletries and first aid kits. The team posted a full list of items people can donate on X.

The Aces will collect the donations and drive them to Los Angeles, where they will join the Sparks in distributing the items to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

The wildfires have continued to devastate the Los Angeles area, burning more than 44,000 acres of land and destroying over 9,000 homes and businesses in the region. Approximately 150,000 people are currently under evacuation orders, with no word on when they can expect to return.

The impact of the wildfires has been seen on the sports world, as well. The NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers and NHL’s Los Angeles Kings have postponed home games, while the Los Angeles Rams’ Wild Card home game against the Minnesota Vikings has been moved to Glendale, Arizona.

The Aces and the Las Vegas community are doing their part to helping make the lives of those affected by these horrific events a little bit easier.
