WATCH: Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy on ‘chasing the game’

The Vegas Golden Knights were shut out for the second time this season – a 6-0 loss to the Utah Hockey Club.

The Golden Knights found themselves in an early 2-0 hole that snowballed into a 4-0 deficit by the end of the first period. Vegas has eight comeback wins this season. Four have come when it has trailed by two or more goals.

However, Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said that constantly trailing by more than a goal is not a recipe for success.

“We can’t chase the game in the National Hockey League. We’ll catch it every once in a while,” he said. “It’s not a good formula, so we put ourselves in a bad spot.”

Most recently, the Golden Knights rallied from a three-goal deficit to win 5-4 in a shootout against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Resiliency has been one of the Golden Knights’ strengths. Over the past three seasons, the Golden Knights have from two-goal or more deficits nine times. Cassidy has always credited the leadership and experience as to why Vegas never feels like it’s out of a game, but against Utah, the lead was too large for them to come back from.
