SALT LAKE CITY – It’s hard to call Vegas Golden Knights defensemen Brayden McNabb underappreciated.
The players appreciate him. So do the coaches.
The Golden Knights’ front office did as well, as McNabb signed a three-year contract that carries a $3.65 million annual average value.
“He’s a glue guy. We’ve all talked about his leadership,” Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said. “He quietly goes about his business every day. He’s been a guy that’s been able to stay calm and healthy. He’s made his partners better. He’s like a big brother out there.”
McNabb is the franchise’s overall leader in games played (518), hits (1,256), and blocked shots (1,144). He is one of three remaining original “Misfits” on the team, along with defenseman Shea Theodore and forward William Karlsson.
This season he is plus-11 with two points (one goal and one assist). McNabb set a career-high in points last season with 26.
“Offensive numbers aren’t where they were this year, but I believe they’ll get there,” Cassidy said. “So he’s a guy that has some offense, very valuable on the ice. He’s a good all-around player that you win with.”
