The Raiders Ground And Pound To Victory

The Las Vegas Raiders put a new meaning to running back by committee by using 6 different running backs today against the Cleveland Browns. That strategy worked as the Raiders were able to ground and pound through the Browns to a 20-16 victory at Allegiant Stadium.

Alexander Mattison led the team with 60 yards on five carries. Zamir White had 50 yards on 17 carries, averaging 2.9 yards per attempt. The Raiders finished Sunday with 152 against the Browns. It was a complete group effort, the highlight of the game was DJ Turner  18-yard touchdown.

Sensing some urgency from not having start wide receiver Davante Adams. The Raiders made a business decision understanding that they didn’t have enough weapons on the outside to dictate the pace.

Star defensive end Maxx Crosby was out but despite his absences the Raiders logged in 3 sacks. Chris

“Maxx is a great player and … not having him out there, his playmaking and just his energy, said Charles Snowden, we all kind of just assumed our role and knew one person wasn’t going to be Maxx Crosby,”

The elephant in the room

Head Coach Antonio Pierce was pleased with the victory but also wanted to address the elephant in the room.

“There was a lot of hoopla, and stuff,” Pierce said Sunday. “Probably started with me, with my comments, and I apologize for that. Don’t want to be a distraction that way but … we just went to work each and every day. Things came out throughout the week and guys just never flinched or blinked.”
