In the first quarter, Team USA struggled, falling down 15-6 early. With 3:06 left in the quarter, Team USA reduced the margin to three points, 17-14.
After one quarter of play, Team USA trailed 19-16, shooting 35% from the field while Germany shot 53%. Leonie Fiebich led all scorers with 8 points in the first quarter for Germany, while Satou Sabally added 7.
Team USA went on an 11-0 run midway through the second quarter to take a 37-24 lead. Jackie Young, Kahleah Copper, and Alyssa Thomas all made significant contributions in the second quarter, showing Team USA’s depth. Team USA would go on to ultimately outscore Germany 25-10 in the quarter and lead 41-29 at the half.

Breanna Stewart led all scorers with 11 points, while A’ja Wilson had 8 at the half. Jackie Young scored five points off the bench, while Napheesa Collier, Alyssa Thomas, and Sarina Ionescu each had four.
In the third quarter, the Aces took over for Team USA, with Jackie Young, Kelsey Plum, and A’ja Wilson scoring 17 of the team’s 28 points. They outscored Germany 28-17 in the fourth and led 69-46 after a Jackie Young buzzer-beating three-pointer.

Kahleah Copper finished with 9 points off the bench, shooting 3-4 from three, while Napheesa Collier had 8 points and 7 rebounds.

Team USA ends group play with a 58-point differential and will await the outcome of France’s match against Australia to determine the top seed. To gain the number one seed from the United States, France must win by more than 16 points.
