The UNLV Lady Rebels secured the Mountain West Regular Season championship and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament for the third consecutive year after a 98-67 win over intrastate rivals, the University of Nevada-Reno (UNR) on Saturday evening at the Lawlor Events Center.

Kiara Jackson led the Lady Rebels (24-2, 14-1 MW) with 18 points, shooting 8-for-10 from the field and 2-for-4 from beyond the arc. Desi-Rae Young recorded her 47th career double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds (two offensive, eight defensive). Young’s 17 points helped her to become the second all-time leading scorer (1,908 career points) in the program’s history. Young was 7-for-11 from the field and 3-for-4 at the free-throw line. Jasmyn Lott and Nneka Obiazor each contributed 13 points off the bench.

The Wolf Pack (14-14, 8-7) had four players in double-digits, led by Kennedy Lee with 18 points, and Izzy Sullivan with 17 points.

UNLV led from the start, scoring the game’s first six points to gain an early advantage. The Lady Rebels held a double-digit lead, 27-13, after the first 10 minutes of play. UNLV added 23 more points in the second quarter to increase the lead to 30. The Lady Rebels did not let up after the break and put up another 22 points in the third quarter and 26 points in the fourth to win the game with a 98-67 scoreline.

UNLV held UNR to just 20 points in the first half (9-for-27 field goals and 1-for-8 three-pointers). The Lady Rebels allowed the Wolf Pack to score only seven points in the second quarter.

The Lady Rebels will host Boise State on Wednesday at the Cox Pavilion.
