UNLV’s Doug Brumfield Retires From Football

UNLV Rebels senior quarterback Doug Brumfield announced he is retiring from football because of medical issues. Brumfield made the announcement on social media on Sunday.

Last year, Brumfield started the first three games for the Rebels before suffering rib and hip injuries.

Brumfield threw for 252 yards with two interceptions last season, with limited playing time.

He had a breakout season in 2022, earning honorable mention all-Mountain West honors after throwing 1,898 yards and ten touchdowns with five interceptions and rushing for 261 yards and six touchdowns.

 

Brumfield suffered a fracture to a vertebrae in his lower back in 2021 and spent time in concussion protocol in 2022.

In four years at UNLV, Brumfield played 23 games and threw for 2,621 yards, 12 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. He completed 59.3% of his passes. Brumfield also rushed for 441 yards and ten touchdowns.
