Each year, Unrivaled names three players to its First Team All-Unrivaled. This season’s selections were Kelsey Plum, Paige Bueckers and Chelsea Gray, a fitting trio after each delivered a star-level campaign. For Gray, the honor is another addition to a resume that keeps growing season after season.
The “Point Gawd’s” Dominance
Gray has been unmatched this season, and she drove Rose to the No. 4 seed and a playoff spot. Even so, Rose closed the regular season at 6-8.
All year, Gray showed her “Point Gawd” credentials. For example, she scored 30-plus points five times and topped 20 points in nine games. But she did more than score. She led the league with 85 assists, which comes out to 6.1 per game, and she dictated the tempo like the best point guards do.
In addition, Gray finished second in the league in scoring average, trailing only Marina Mabrey (25.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game). Meanwhile, Gray put up 24.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game, plus 1.3 steals, giving her one of the most complete stat lines in Unrivaled.
Rose’s playoff run ended in the first round, and the Breeze knocked it out 69-50. Still, Gray made her mark, and she reminded everyone how dominant she can be. Because of that, fans will watch closely to see how she and Rose respond next season.
Next, the semifinals will feature the No. 1 seed Phantom vs. the No. 6 seed Vinyl. After that, the No. 5 seed Breeze will face the No. 2 seed Mist. Now the question is simple: Who becomes the second champion in Unrivaled history?
