- What: WNBA Regular Season Game
- When: July 14, 2025
- Who: Phoenix Mercury vs. Golden State Valkyries
- Time: 7:00 p.m. PST
- Where: Chase Center (San Francisco, CA)
The Golden State Valkyries are looking to improve their record to above .500 this Monday as they take on the Phoenix Mercury. Currently sitting at 10-10 for the 2025 season, the Valkyries are eager for a win.
Meanwhile, the Mercury have been on a roll lately, winning back-to-back games and eight of their last ten. Their record is now 14-6, tying them with the New York Liberty for the second-best record in the league.
Despite missing both Satou Sabally and Kahleah Copper due to injury, Phoenix has performed well, largely thanks to Thomas’s leadership.
With both of these All-Star caliber players sidelined again on Monday, bookmakers have favored the Valkyries in this matchup.
Although Phoenix has shown resilience, defeating the Dallas Wings by 30 points and the Minnesota Lynx by eight without their stars, I believe their winning streak will end this evening.
The Valkyries have established themselves as one of the top home teams in the WNBA this season, boasting a 7-3 record straight up and an impressive mark against the spread at 13-7.
Although the Mercury possesses a strong defense (ranking third in defensive rating) that helps them stay competitive despite missing their two main scorers, I have concerns that the momentum they’ve built recently may fade.
In their recent victory over the Wings, Sami Whitcomb scored an impressive 36 points, and Alyssa Thomas stepped up against the Lynx, finishing with 29 points in a clutch performance.
Defensively, Golden State is right on the Mercury’s heels, currently fourth in the league in defensive rating.
Considering the Valkyries’ strong home performance, I believe they present a solid opportunity to secure a win against a Phoenix team still operating at less than full strength this Monday.
Best Bet: Valkyries -2.5 points at -110 odds
