- What: WNBA Regular Season Game
- When: June 29, 2025
- Who: Las Vegas Aces vs. Phoenix Mercury
- Time: 3:00 p.m. PST
- Where: PHX Arena (Phoenix, AZ)
The Phoenix Mercury head into Sunday’s matchup against the Las Vegas Aces with a six-game winning streak. The game is set to take place at 3 p.m. PST at the PHX Arena.
The Mercury and Aces seem to be heading in opposite directions as the WNBA season progresses.
The Mercury are currently the hottest team in the league. They will look to extend their six-game winning streak when they face the Aces on Sunday night.
The Aces, sitting at 7-8, have had a tough start to the 2025 season. Since trading Kelsey Plum to acquire Jewell Loyd, they have struggled to find their rhythm. Currently, they rank ninth in the WNBA for net, offensive, and defensive ratings.
While the Mercury might not dominate in scoring, ranking sixth in offensive efficiency, they excel defensively, placing in the top four for both defensive rating and net rating.
With Copper (knee) gradually returning to her regular playing time, the Phoenix team could become even more formidable as the season unfolds.
Remember, the Mercury have been without Copper and Natasha Mack for a significant part of the early season, and Alyssa Thomas also missed time due to a calf injury.
Despite this, Phoenix boasts a record of 12-4 (7-2 at home) and has been impressive at 10-6 against the spread this season. In contrast, the Aces have struggled, posting just a 5-10 record against the spread.
Although A’ja Wilson is a standout player, the Aces haven’t quite found their rhythm, with Loyd averaging only 11.5 points per game.
It will take some time to develop their offense, and I doubt the Aces will be able to turn things around against the league’s No. 3 defense.
Phoenix edged out a six-point victory on the road in their last matchup, so I feel confident in taking the Mercury at home to continue their winning streak.
Best Bet: Mercury -6.5 points at -110 odds
