The Washington Nationals (33-46) will face off against the San Diego Padres (42-36) in the second game of a three-game series at Petco Park on Tuesday, with the first pitch slated for 6:40 p.m. PST.

Nationals lead the season series 1-0.

Despite sitting 13 games below .500, the Nationals came out strong in the series opener on Monday, defeating the Padres 10-6 as moderate underdogs (+160), and the total went Over (8.5) comfortably.

Washington racked up 15 hits, with all of their top six hitters contributing at least two hits.

CJ Abrams stood out with a 3-for-5 performance, scoring three runs, while James Wood also went 3-for-5, hitting a three-run homer, scoring three, and driving in four runs.

On the other hand, the Padres recorded nine hits, with third baseman Manny Machado, outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr., and infielder Jake Cronenworth all hitting home runs.

The ten runs they surrendered in Monday’s defeat matched their season-high at home, marking the most runs allowed since a 10-8 loss to the Miami Marlins on May 28.
