- What: NHL Eastern Conference Playoffs First Round Game 3
- When: April 25, 2025
- Who: Carolina Hurricanes vs. New Jersey Devils
- Time: 5:00 p.m. PST
- Where: Prudential Center (Newark, NJ)
The Carolina Hurricanes will face the New Jersey Devils in Game 3 of their Eastern Conference first-round series in the Stanley Cup Playoffs this Friday at 5 p.m. PST. The Hurricanes lead the series 2-0.
After two strong home wins, Carolina looks to improve its road performance, which was unimpressive this season at 16-21-4.
The Hurricanes have fared much better in Raleigh, boasting a 31-9-1 record. Earlier this season, they lost both games to the Devils at Prudential Center, each by 4-2.
In Game 2, the heavily favored Hurricanes dominated with a 3-1 victory, thanks to a solid game from goaltender Frederik Andersen.
After an early goal from Jesper Bratt quieted the crowd, goals from Shayne Gostisbehere and Jordan Martinook, including a short-handed score, turned the momentum. Seth Jarvis capped it off with an empty-netter.
In all six matchups this season, the favorite has covered the puck line, winning by at least two goals, with an average margin of 2.3 goals per game.
Andersen (13-8-1, 2.50 GAA) faces off against Jacob Markstrom (26-16-6, 2.50 GAA), both of whom have shown strong performances.
While Andersen has bounced back dramatically in the playoffs, Markstrom has also been solid, albeit with limited goal support.
Despite their struggles, the Devils will aim to make a strong showing at home, despite a recent 4-7-1 record since Jack Hughes’ injury.
Even with Carolina’s road challenges, Andersen’s strong play and the team’s confidence could give them the edge against a Devils side dealing with injuries and inconsistency.
Best Bet: Under 5.5 Goals at -125 odds
