Since closing out the season, coach Lindy La Rocque and the UNLV Lady Rebels have been busy making moves to build a championship squad through the transfer portal.

On Monday, the Lady Rebels received a commitment from forward Ongolea Afu, transferring from Murray State.

Head coach Lindy La Rocque made the announcement:

“Lea brings toughness and consistency to our program,” said La Rocque.

La Rocque continued, “We’re excited about her relentless rebounding and her ability to produce offensively night in and night out—averaging a double-double speaks for itself. She embodies the hard-working, winning mindset that defines our championship culture. We’re proud to welcome Lea and her family to Rebel Nation!”

Ongolea Afu stands 5’11 and hails from Sandy Utah. She attended Jordan High School before joining Murray State.

During her two seasons at Murray State, Afu averaged 12.5 points and 11.4 rebounds per game. In both years, she averaged a double-double. Averaging 12.8 rebound per game in her freshman season, she was third in the country overall.

Afu will now bring her talents to a tougher conference to face tougher competition.

Not only does Afu join a tougher conference, but she will also be joining a conference championship team in the UNLV Lady Rebels.
