- What: NHL Regular Season Game
- When: April 2, 2025
- Who: Colorado Avalanche vs. Chicago Blackhawks
- Time: 7:00 p.m. PST

The Colorado Avalanche will be hitting the road to face the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center.
The Avalanche’s current record is 45-26-4, while the Blackhawks’ is 21-44-9. This season, the two teams have met three times, with Chicago winning two matchups.
The Avalanche are enjoying a strong season, bolstered by a potent offense that averages 3.32 goals per game, including 22 goals in their last six outings.
Nathan MacKinnon and Martin Necas have been instrumental, contributing 40 goals and 95 assists as part of the top line, but other players have also stepped up.
Artturi Lehkonen, Jonathan Drouin, and Valeri Nichushkin have combined for 57 goals and 53 assists. In comparison, defensemen Cale Makar and Devon Toews have added 36 goals and 88 assists from the back end, enhancing the offensive depth.
While the offense is flourishing, the defense is performing well, too. They allow only 2.77 goals per game, including just 12 in their last six contests.
Cale Makar and Devon Toews have accumulated 12.1 defensive point shares, with Samuel Girard and Sam Malinski contributing another 6.8, fortifying the defensive unit.
Additionally, goaltender MacKenzie Blackwood is having an impressive season, boasting a .919 save percentage and a 2.14 goals-against average on 853 shots, resulting in 16.2 goals saved above average.
On the other hand, the Blackhawks are struggling this season, with their offense averaging only 2.70 goals per game. Ryan Donato and Connor Bedard lead the way with 49 goals and 68 assists, but support from the rest of the lineup has been sparse.
Only six players have reached double digits in goals, making the offense easily manageable for opponents.
While the offense has faltered, the defense hasn’t held up either, permitting 3.61 goals per game and surrendering 15 goals in their last three games.
Alex Vlasic and Connor Murphy account for 5.7 defensive point shares, but the remainder of the defense has faced challenges, allowing shooters ample opportunities.
Goaltender Arvid Soderblom has also struggled, recording a .897 save percentage and a 3.23 goals-against average on 1,033 shots, with a negative 2.8 goals saved above average.
The Avalanche are having a great season and look to dominate this game starting in the first period. The Avalanche should win this game, but I like the Blackhawks to cover the spread in this one.
Best Bet: Blackhawks +1.5 points at +125 odds
